Commercial Law - Commercial agreements - Distribution - Litigation and Arbitration

Steve Griess graduated in law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2005 and in European law at the Institute for European Studies in 2006, with magna cum laude. He has worked in several major law firms based in Brussels, where he was in charge of the litigation and arbitration department (Stibbe / Strelia).

Steve's practice focuses on contract drafting and negotiation, commercial and private law litigation, both at national and international level. He has gained extensive experience in commercial distribution (such as franchise, agency and concession agreements), real estate, contract and liability law, and enforcement law.

This experience has been recognised by the Brussels Bar, which has awarded him the title of "specialist in contract and distribution law".

As enthusiastic practitioner of alternative dispute resolution, Steve is a certified mediator in civil and commercial matters and regularly practices arbitration as arbitrator or as counsel (notably as a member of CEPANI). For the past three years, he has also been appointed as a conciliator with the "Ombudsman for retail". His recognised practice has led him to become one of the members of the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Commission of the French Bar Association of Brussels.

At the same time, Steve has a strong attraction for sports law, which leads him to sit as an arbitrator at the CBAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) and to serve as first substitute for the Brussels and Brabant provincial public prosecutor's offices of the ACFF (Association des Clubs Francophones de Football).

Steve also had an academic career for 12 years at the Université Libre de Bruxelles as an assistant lecturer in charge of practical legal exercises. He is still linked to the academic world by participating in various publications and by speaking at conferences.

Passionate about journalism and the media, he also has the pleasure of regularly appearing as a legal columnist in several programs.
